O objetivo foi melhorar o bulldog, que eram valentes, mas n\u00e3o tinha agilidade, e para isso foram cruzados com o antigo <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">English White Terrier<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Logo foram proibidos estes combates, ent\u00e3o os criadores fizeram modifica\u00e7\u00f5es na ra\u00e7a para adapt\u00e1-la para a luta entre c\u00e3es e assim nasceu o Bull Terrier de Staffordshire, que atualmente existe como ra\u00e7a independente.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Em 1935 foram proibidas essas lutas tamb\u00e9m, mas j\u00e1 estavam apegados \u00e0 ra\u00e7a, portanto a conservaram, introduzindo umas \u00faltimas modifica\u00e7\u00f5es gen\u00e9ticas para conseguir orelhas menores ainda e um c\u00e3o de apar\u00eancia menos dura ao cruz\u00e1-lo com d\u00e1lmatas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Existem na atualidade <\/span><b>tr\u00eas variedades de <\/b><b>Bull Terrier: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O branco puro, que pode ter alguma mancha nas orelhas ou cabe\u00e7a; o de cor, que pode ser loiro listrado claro ou escuro com uma larga franja branca na cabe\u00e7a e com ou sem manchas brancas na cara, o peito e as extremidades; e o tricolor (preto, loiro e branco). A terceira variedade \u00e9 o Bull Terrier miniatura, que tem as mesmas caracter\u00edsticas, mas com um peso que n\u00e3o excede os 8 kg.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O Bull Terrier atual j\u00e1 n\u00e3o \u00e9 t\u00e3o belicoso como o seu antepassado. Bom ca\u00e7ador de ratos, \u00e9 s\u00f3lido, ativo, valente, fiel e educado. \u00c9 um excelente animal de estima\u00e7\u00e3o e pode ser muito carinhoso com os seus donos.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Aspeto geral do Bull Terrier<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Cabe\u00e7a <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bastante longa, o mais ovalada poss\u00edvel, forte, poderosa, de perfil convexo, profunda. Cr\u00e2nio plano entre as orelhas. Testa curta, stop nulo, bochechas planas. Nariz preto. Mand\u00edbulas com mordida em tesoura, a inferior potente. Olhos pretos, de olhar penetrante, pequenos, amendoados, algo triangulares, muito profundos. Orelhas elevadas, muito pr\u00f3ximas, pequenas, finas, paralelas e de porte erguido.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Corpo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> cheio, muito arredondado, de ossos s\u00f3lidos e m\u00fasculos intercostais desenvolvidos. Pesco\u00e7o proporcionalmente longo, arqueado, musculoso, sem papada. Linha dorsal levemente arqueada. Lombo curto e poderoso, peito amplo e profundo.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Extremidades<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> musculosas, n\u00e3o muito longas e de ossos fortes. Ombros e pernas muito robustos. P\u00e9s pequenos, redondos, carnosos e compactos.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Cauda<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> mais curta, grossa na raiz e se afina na ponta. Porte direto e horizontal, exceto em a\u00e7\u00e3o, que fica vertical.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Pelo <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">curto, plano, liso, duro ao toque e com bom brilho. Apresenta as variedades de cor que j\u00e1 foram mencionadas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Tamanho <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">de 30 a 45 cm. Peso de 23 a 28 kg, exceto na variedade miniatura. Estes n\u00fameros s\u00e3o orientativos, pois o padr\u00e3o n\u00e3o estabelece limita\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Sa\u00fade:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> s\u00e3o c\u00e3es r\u00fasticos, sem problemas especiais.
